Evacuation Plan

The Fire Safety Order states that;

 The responsible person must provide his employees with comprehensive and relevant information”

If a fire or other emergency occurs, you must have an emergency plan detailing the process and procedures to deal with the emergency. It is important that you plan and prepare for all eventualities.

The emergency plan should be produced following your Fire Risk Assessment and should be based on the outcome of the survey.

The emergency plan should be in writing and available for all staff, occupiers and enforcing authorities to see.

The Emergency Plan should be appropriate to your premises and should include areas such as:

  • How people will be warned if there is a fire
  • What staff should do on discovering a fire
  • How the fire service or other emergency agencies are called and who will be responsible for doing this
  • How the evacuation of the premises should be carried out
  • Identification and use of protected areas for horizontal evacuation
  • Procedures for a delayed evacuation response
  • Power/process isolation
  • Places of assembly and roll call

R & A Fire Risk Consultants Ltd will provide, as part of the Fire Risk Assessment, comprehensive details of what your Emergency plan should be. All buildings and occupancies vary, and your Evacuation Plan will be specific to your business and your employees.
